In this international student competition inspired by the vision for the Netherlands in 2120, multidisciplinary teams of students visualize the potential of nature-based solutions to respond to the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss in river deltas around the world. This first edition runs from November 2023 to June 2024 and is focused on the challenges faced in the Bengal Delta in Bangladesh.

Based on soil and water data, and interviews with stakeholders, student teams will create a vision for Bangladesh in 2100 and present it in the form of adaptive spatial planning maps and illustrative renderings. The results of the Challenge will provide inspiration and transformative pathways for decision-makers and a hopeful perspective for future generations.

Who can join?

The Challenge is open to any current BSc, MSc, PhD students and fresh graduates worldwide. Relevant study backgrounds include, amongst other, Landscape architecture, Spatial planning, Forestry, (Organic) Agriculture, Nature Conservation, Environmental Sciences, Land, Water, Urban and Marine Resources Management. Students can join with their own team or register as single participants and find a team through the challenge. Participation is online and most events are livestreamed.

It is a unique opportunity for students to boost their professional skills, learn from and network with industry leaders, and to meet and exchange ideas with students from universities worldwide. Top teams receive a participation certificate and travel & accommodation budget to attend the Grand Finals in the Netherlands. Last but not least, the prize for the winning team is 9000 EUR!
